Kristin Yee’s Sweet OnRamp Experience
The three words I would choose to describe CrossFit Akron are Community, Commitment, and Fitness. The moment I walked in the gym I knew that I have made the right choice. The environment at CFA is a supportive one. The feeling is not only from the coaches, but other individuals who work out there also. The coaches are genuinely interested in getting to know about your fitness goals and you as a person.
Commitment is a serious word at CFA! They hold you to your goals. I was repeatedly asked about the things that I want to accomplish. They helped formulate a plan of action for me and move past barriers that were preventing me from achieving those results.
Fitness- If you’ve ever done CrossFit, you know what I mean! CrossFit’s motto is Forging Elite Fitness and CFA has the World’s Fittest Masters Female, Ms. Betsy Finley at age of 61!!!! They know how to program workouts that are effective for all ages and abilities.
I am excited to graduate from OnRamp and get started with WODs. I know that I will continue to see results. I would recommend CrossFit Akron to anyone seeking to lose weight or to be a better athlete.

Jennifer Parker Hooked on CrossFit Navalur
For me, OnRamp was a great experience. Not only did I learn proper technique for many things I have never done before, but I learned additional goals I wanted to set for myself and things I want to accomplish.
The diet (or “lifestyle change” as we refer to in in our house) was huge for our family. We are eating a lot better & trying things we would not have eaten before. I feel great and after just a month on on-ramp, I can already see & feel a change in my body.
Everyone at CrossFit Navalur is great . . . the coaches help you every step of the way with technique, motivation, etc. The fellow “teammates” are great too. They offer advice & support which is fantastic to get from someone who has been where I am now
I love CrossFit Navalur & the motivation it gives me to push myself beyond what I didn’t think I could do. I’m excited to see where I’ll be in a month from now & where I’ll be in the future.
Thanks CrossFit Navalur . . . I’m hooked!!!!

Michele Rossi OnRamp Experience
As I sit here to reflect on my 2 weeks of OnRamp as well as my first full week of CrossFit WOD classes - all I can say is WOW!
Having been pretty active all my life - I was looking for something to re-energize me. For the last few years - I had found running was a ‘quick’ workout and was a good way to keep me sane while pulling 12 hour workdays and more recently, going back to school for my MBA. It also helped during the summer months for me to train for the 2 -3 half marathons I try to accomplish each year.
Sounds pretty active right?!
Unfortunately what I started to notice is that I wasn’t feeling that healthy ‘overall’. I was losing the muscle tone in my upper body that I’d developed from rock climbing and dirt bike riding, which unfortunately is both a distant memory. I also noticed that no matter how much I trained (by only running), I struggled to improve my race times, especially during my half marathons. So I tried the ‘at home’ P90X workouts, which are good, but after 60 days - no offense Tony - I was kind of over hearing the same directions and jokes and doing the same movements again and again. Plus it was kind of lonely in my house working out with just me (well and my two cats staring at me with puzzled looks).

So after a mild winter and in desperate need of some new running shoes - I found myself at Second Sole. While there trying on some new sneakers, in walks a guy in a CrossFit T-Shirt saying he was there to give his weekly demo. I kind of chuckled to myself as this was now the third time that day that the words “CROSSFIT” had CROSSED my path. Talk about the universe trying to give me a kick in the pants!
So my journey begins…...
I showed up the next day at CFA for my one on one with Brian and committed to the 2 weeks of On Ramp! I went home from that meeting with my Whole9 booklet in hand and I was intrigued. On line I went to learn more about these “CrossFit” workouts I just signed up for as well as this new way of eating (no wheat or dairy – what’s a runner to do?!).
Well a few days later I show up to my first On Ramp class and I could already feel the energy before I made it to the door! I was greeted by total strangers and had never felt so welcome in my life! We got to watch the end of the WOD workout that was wrapping up before our class. I was amazed with how supportive and encouraging everyone was of each other and of us – the new kids standing around watching with eyes wide at this intense group workout-taking place!
So now it’s our groups turn. Jamie gathers us up and goes over what is in store for us for the night, as I look around – a little nervous by all the equipment! He was very patient with all of us as we followed his directions and attempted wall balls, squats and sits up on the craziest apparatus I’ve ever seen! He encouraged, corrected and blasted the music to keep us energized! Then at the end of the workout, he sat us all down and talked to us – I mean really talked to us! He gave us ‘healthy homework’ for the next class and reminded us of the importance of keeping a journal.
I left that first night knowing that the universe had given me what I had been looking for and then some! Not only was CrossFit Navalur an amazing and energized workout but it was also access to a trainer/coach to encourage, teach and help push me outside of my comfort zone to be the healthiest, strongest and most confident person I can be! Every class brings new challenges, learning and best of all – personal successes to be shared! And it doesn’t stop there! Add in the nutritional guidance and new friendships along with some friendly competition and this is and will continue to by my way of life!
I look forward to reaching my goals, setting even higher ones and then achieving those! Bring on the next 40 years as I’ve just started living! Thank you Brian for finding Jamie and me for setting me in the right direction. Oh and don’t forget Jason who kicks my.. Ahem – kicks me into gear for the weekend!
